BORENSTEIN RACING POSTS BEST
FINISH OF SEASON
Borenstein Racing with driver Nick Joanides
continue to make quick progress to the front of the pack. They
experienced a bump in the road at the prior event after a positive start
to the day. On April 29th, the team posted the 4th
quickest qualifying time among 36 competitors, an incredible run for a
team just three races old. However 18 laps into the race, the ignition
failed, forcing them out of the race.
After chasing the electrical problems throughout
the test day on Friday, thanks to Danny Grill of M&R Racing Engines,
they were finally able to solve the problem after discovering the distributor
had gone bad. The electrical problems prevented the team
from working on the chassis set up resulting in a disappointing 16th
place qualifying run. Although the car was still extremely loose, with the help of Jackson
Race Cars, they were able to make changes to the car that did improve the
handling. Through the heat races and the main event, Nick was able to
pass several cars and bring home a solid 7th place finish,
bettering their previous best 10th place finish.
While the team had of course hoped for a
better run, with the new car blues they’ve experienced, forcing them
to spend time solving problems rather than gaining speed, they are very
proud to have made the progress they have so quickly. In just four
events, they’ve shown that they are already a solid top 10 team. Major
changes are planned for this week and the team looks forward to
challenging for the top spot in the very near future.
